The Lovers is a card that has actually had many different visual incarnations. So imagine you are on the tarot journey and you come across the scene depicted in the Rider Waite Tarot version of The Lovers. Before your eyes you see an Angel, many associate this angel with Raphael. He is the patron saint of travelers and happy meetings, as well as many other things. The Lovers stand naked before you, but you realize there is still sense of innocence. Behind the woman there is tree with a serpent, it appears to be a classic biblical reference to Eve and the fruit she eventually ate. Meanwhile the man has twelve flames behind him, representing the zodiac signs.
Perhaps you identify with The Lovers. Maybe you are starting a new romantic relationship or beginning the process of letting Raphael contribute to a happy meeting. This card portrays a healthy relationship both emotionally and sexually.
The Lovers does not always represent a romantic relationship. Maybe you have a new business partner or you are redefining your relationship with yourself (as we can often be very hard on ourselves). Whatever the case may be the presence of Raphael indicates that this can be a healthy, peaceful and prosperous relationship. There is the ability to be illuminated and grow from whatever type of relationship you are in.
I mentioned the other incarnations of this card. One incarnation portrays two women, and a man must choose. Maybe at this point in your life you need to make a choice that involves more of an intuitive or heart moment. Both options may seem appealing, but in different ways. If this is the case I would suggest looking at the layout of your cards. The cards next to The Lover card may help to shed light on the decision you have to make.
No matter what the situation always remember there is an Angel in the background, watching and trying to help you create the best outcome for you.
